Sweet P’s Story

KNOXVILLE’S FINEST BARBECUE JOINTS

Sweet P’s barbecue started as a catering company in 2005 when owner Chris Ford, with the help of his wife and daughter, lovingly called Sweet P, prepared and delivered delicious Southern fare.

Word spread about the authentic barbecue, great sauces and amazing sides, and as business grew, it was time to open a dine-in restaurant in 2009. The Soul House served barbecue and live music along the Little River in Maryville until 2020. During that time, Chris’ cousin, Jonathan Ford, joined the family affair, and they even were featured on Travel Channel’s Man v. Food.

The current location, Downtown Dive, opened to fulfill barbecue cravings in downtown Knoxville in 2015. Located at 410 W. Jackson Ave., Downtown Dive was borne from a love of classic American dive bars and barbecue joints and carries on the tradition of Sweet P’s Southern heritage.

In the spring of 2021, the first full-service Sweet P’s concept, Uptown Corner, will open in Fountain City. Featuring table service and a bar, we look forward to serving our customers at 3029 Tazewell Pike and joining the Fountain City community.
